The Phantom of Fifth Avenue, a new book on Huguette Clark

May 27, 2014

Meryl Gordon’s book, The Phantom of Fifth Avenue: The Mysterious Life and Scandalous Death of Heiress Huguette Clark, is the second on the reclusive heiress since her death. It adds to  Empty Mansions: The Mysterious Life of Huguette Clark and the Spending of a Great American Fortune, by Bill Dedman, by discussing what turned the wealthy young woman into a recluse. Gordon interviewed many family members and friends to find out. Read Barney Brantingham’s column in the Independent to find out more about the future of her mansion, Bellosguardo, and what it means for Santa Barbara.
